We have two parks in Ambleside, Rothay Park with a childrens' rustic and imaginative adventure play area, and Borrans Park by the shores of Lake Windermere at Waterhead. This is also adjacent to Galava, the ancient Roman settlement, where you can see the remains of the fort and then perhaps visit the Ambleside museum at the Armitt Library in the town centre Almost next door to the Norwood there is a crown bowling green, pitch-and-put and tennis courts which are open to the public every day except Sundays - a requirement due to the fact that the area is consecrated ground!

What, with the nearby lake cruises, National Trust buildings - the homes of Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter, waterfall walks, gift shops and much more, it is easy to see why Ambleside so effortlessly attracts so many visitors year after year.
We look forward to welcoming you too.
